The worst restaurant ever. If you like your barbeque sauce watered down, chicken cook days before and microwaved go here. I took one bite and had to leave. I'm not that picky, but for gods sake, this was horrible. Might just call the health inspector. Gross!

My friend and I were visiting friends in West Allis and decided to take a little detour to grab some desserts from Sweet Tooth, which is across the street. Our drive up had taken a little longer than anticipated and we were hungry. There were a few options in the area, but BBQ sounded the best and we decided to check this place out. Service was a bit slow but not terrible. We got our Bloody Marys relatively quickly and they were tasty, though a bit hot. We had to wait a while to order and I found that the Saturday Prime Rib isn't available until 4pm, so I had to make a new choice and waited again for the waitress to return. I was hoping they'd have Rib Tips or something similar. I was given the Fat Jacks as a recommendation. It ended up being a BBQ sandwich and was pretty good but nothing I'd be in a rush to order again. My friend's salad, though large, wasn't as satisfying as she'd have liked and she said if she were hungrier, she'd order a second serving of chicken since there wasn't much. All in all, it was a good meal; I'm just not in a rush to return. However, I am still interested in trying their Prime Rib, so maybe I'll check them out again the next time I go to Sweet Tooth because I'll definitely be going back to that business.

Visited this place at the Waukesha county fair. I had the pulled pork sandwich and can say it was absolutely tasteless and bland. What a letdown! The bbq sauce that they provided in a tiny plastic cup was nothing special. I was surprised that they put out such a mediocre product- I've done similar pulled pork in a slow cooker without spices. I never post negative reviews, so I hope they were just having an off day.

This is my all time favorite place. Christine and Brad are the best bar tenders you could ever ask for, they always make your time there fun and are always able to find a drink you will thoroughly enjoy. The BBQ it top-notch for Wisconsin and there isn't a thing on the menu I don't enjoy! If you're looking for some good bar food, the sloppy nachos always hit the spot! Highly recommended establishment! Anyone giving the Spur a bad review simply hasn't given it a chance. Have a seat at the bar, get yourself a drink, and enjoy some good food and even better conversation with all of the staff!

"World Famous Gravy." That is a grand statement. It may also be 'famous' last words by a diner. You better have the chops to back up such an assertion. Rather, you better have the chicken fried steak to back it up. The crispy pan-fried steak was apparently tasty to some degree, but the gravy had a fine skin formed on top of it atop the steak AND there was very little gravy, leaving the overall taste to come in at "dry." The quotation was really "It appeared to have been sitting under a heat lamp." I'm disappointed, because Silver Spur is able to do some dishes quite well. Perhaps, it is a timing issue (other plates are done sooner; therefore, the one dish sits under the lamp). You want the plate to come out looking fresh. The garlic mashed potatoes were a poor representation of their namesake. Garlic was an absentee ingredient in terms of taste and the texture was again dry. More [fresh] gravy could have improved on that as well. The catfish made a better showing. It was perfectly cooked, a tad saltier than I expected, but no less delicious and not overwhelming. There were two modifications to the dish upon ordering: no "salsa butter" and a sub of sweet potato wild rice. Well, the first request was obliged, but the salsa fresca didn't make it to the plate nor did the wild rice. The standard side for this dish was a tasteless tomato-based Mexican rice that was a platform for the fish. There was also a side of sauteed vegetables for both the chicken fried steak and the catfish. It was more of an afterthought. I probably could've even done without the rice. The fish was good all by itself. The chefs could consider some simple revamping of sides, seasonings, and timing. The nachos did receive a thumbs up from my fellow diners. I would be happy with just the chips and salsa. Silver Spur's seasoned chips still rank supreme in my mind. Sometimes you don't need the fluff. Simplify a dish and you highlight the ingredients used. Simplicity remains the spice of life. You don't need to be fancy to gain notoriety. Just add a dash of passion and a pinch of pride. Diners will be grateful and the Yelp stars will keep coming.

Mmmmmmmm.eat . Meat. They do meat well here. I am absolutely obsessed with the Juicy Q - so deliciously moist and caramelized. Yummm. The ribs, chicken wings and house sausage were also really tasty. I could have left the turkey and pulled pork - it was a little too dry for me (if you're curious, I got The Whole Shootin' Match to try a bit of everything). The fries, cole slaw and warm barbecue sauce were definite winners too. Oh, and they KNOW how to pour a drink here. Their $9 margarita is well worth the price - just believe me.

I really like this place. I live in Connecticut but travel to Tosa regularly, my company is based here, and I try to get to the Silver Spur each time. The staff is awesome and the food is great, good solid performance all around. My favorite dish is the chicken fried steak, best I have ever had, anywhere and I have eaten a lot of CFS around the USA. The deco is comfortable and relaxing, they have a nice bar area with a good selection of brews and the deck in the summer time is something not to be missed. I recommend.

Visited on a Saturday at around 6:00pm and tables were less than half occupied. Not what you want to see at a thriving BBQ joint. Service was quick and friendly. Had the BBQ combo plate. Others had Prime rib and pulled pork plate Portions of BBQ were small, especially the sides. Meat was served just barely warm with heated BBQ sauce on the side . Disappointed with the BBQ overall. Ribs and brisket were very average. Prime rib was rated a polite "good". Plate of pulled pork lacked BBQ flavor. The only thing that saved it was the warm BBQ sauce served with the meal. In spite of its name, it is not a destination for top notch BBQ. Better BBQ served at Dickies BBQ and a better value. Look for the Three Stack Shack food truck for outstanding ribs. High point of the meal was the sweet potato fries which were very good. Low point of the meal was trying to find a wooden chair that was not rickety and wobbly. Too many other BBQ places to explore in the city. Would not return. Would only recommend for unadventurous first time BBQ.

Been here twice so far, and had good barbeque for the most part, sauces are good fresh.

Anyone calling the food here bbq, has no idea what real bbq is. Wife and I stopped at the Silver Spur last Saturday nite. Bar was empty and very few patrons seated for dinner, not a good start. Ordered drinks and all 7 meats. Food arrived very quickly as did my disappointment. Turkey was cold and dry, chicken was dry and tasteless, ribs were mushy and far to over cooked. Brisket tasted like pot roast from a crock pot. Only meat with any flavor was the link/sausage, but like all the other meats, had no smoke flavor. None of the meats had any discernable rub applied to the meat or any type of seasoning. For "Texas" bbq, would have at least expected a decent salt/pepper rub. Overall a very disapointing/lackluster effort. Not worth your time or $$.

I'm rating this knowing full well that I was going to Elm Grove to get BBQ. Was it the best BBQ I've ever had? Nope. It probably wasn't even close. But was it tasty, serviceable BBQ on the west side of town for a good price, with nice servers, a blazing fire and really delicious little corn muffins? You'd better believe it! And I'd go back. So Four Stars for you Silver Spur I'm not entirely sure why it seems impossible to replicate delicious BBQ outside of a couple of cities in this country, but we'll just assume that it is. So when I go to get BBQ ANYWHERE in Milwaukee, I assume that at best it'll be good, but not life-changing. I had a platter with brisket, pulled pork and chicken. BF had similar, switching out chicken for ribs. We swapped some chicken and ribs so we could get all the different flavors. All the meats were nice and moist and juicy. I used a very small amount of BBQ sauce overall - just a small puddle on the side for some dips. The meat didn't need it. It was all well seasoned and well cooked. It did not, however, have much smoke on it. The ribs were very meaty and had a small kick to them with their dry rub. The brisket was my favorite. The server saw I was cold when I came in and moved us next to the fire, which was a good touch. The prices were great (a complaint I have with other BBQ places in town), the atmosphere cozy and the food filling. I can see going back here in the summer to enjoy the patio or to watch a football game. The pickings on the west side of town can be slim, so I can see Silver Spur becoming a member of our rotation. Two minor complaints with the sides - there's not really a warm potato option (you can trade up both your sides for french fries). No mashed potatoes. No baked potato option. In fact, the only warm side option is baked beans. I'd have liked more warm side options. Secondly, many other reviewers had mentioned the dill potato salad. There's no way in heck the stuff I got was homemade, much less dill. It was generic from a tub stuff they got off their mainline food delivery box truck. It wasn't a big deal since I wasn't there for the sides but the big plate o' meat and I might not have even noticed had so many other not touted how great the real deal stuff was. The thing is, you get the sense of homemade off a lot of the stuff. There's attention to detail in the ranch beans and even the small corn muffins (add more than one to your meal, they're small and just 25 cents and really good and I'm not even much of a cornbread fan) are dusted in sugar to give them an extra oomph. So the crappy potato salad was more glaring the face of that. The coleslaw, though, was tangy and just barely wet (in the best possible way) with big (seemingly) fresh ground pieces of black pepper dotting it. It was a great foil for the BBQ and I can imagine that on a pulled pork sandwich is to die for. That stuff was delicious.

I want to premise my review with the comment that I am by no means a expert of barbecue. My wife and our double date arrived at 4 p.m.. The steady stream of incoming customers was promising. The good: customer service was typically on the spot, very friendly and seemingly knowledgeable. Although we sat at the bar. The bad: I had the beef brisket sandwich. While the meat was tender and moist, it was relatively tasteless. The bun was not much better . The sides I had with the sandwich were beans and coleslaw, the beans were absolutely terrible, I thought beans and the general Bbq were supposed to be of a sweeter nature and not bitter in taste? The cole slaw was mediocre the only saving grace I felt really were the large chunks of black pepper. One of our party ordered the prime rib, he had said he was not impressed. My wife had a burger which was decent. Again not much flavor. Their homemade barbecue sauce is nothing spectacular, in fact I'm almost certain I've tasted something similar off of a store shelf. Don't even get me started on their drink prices, $4 for a 16 ounce PBR which is typically $2? 5.50 for a tall Jack and Coke is reasonable, $5 for some microbrew pint? Maybe I'm cheap I don't know. There is nothing redeemable about this place and I would not recommend spending your money here. There are far better places on State Street in Milwaukee.

So I hardly knew this place was right down the road from the office. Who knew. I'm kind of in 3.25 stars land with this one but deck/patio on the back was looking really nice and had we got to sit out there (darn u, spring showers!) I'm sure I would have gone with 4. I inexplicably ordered Manhattan clam chowder here. Our waitress was very considerate and came out to make a sure I under stood about manhattan chowder being tomato based and non cream based. (I can only imagine the joy of being a server when you have to deal with ppl complaining about crap like that) The "cauldron" of soup was good. My companion pronounced the smoke house burger excellent. They had a cute westerny saloon bar and although I didn't partake, they listed $5.50 happy hour specials on the menu.

I've been here a ton of times for lunch outings with coworkers. It's a favorite for everyone. I always try to get pulled pork or brisket (yum). When deciding on a rehearsal dinner location, this was my vote! I got vetoed in favor of Venice Club, which was lovely as well. But this place has my heart (via my stomach). I've never had a bad experience here, and the service is friendly and accommodating.

BBQ was not good at all. Tasted like it was microwaved. Best part was the French fries. Disappointing to say the least. Atmosphere was nice and service was good, but food was not good at all.

I like this place. I go here sometimes for their Friday night fish fry when I'm in town. The Manhattan clam chowder that comes with it every other Friday (they alternate with New England clam chowder) is awesome too. The service is usually fast and efficient and it's very family friendly.

ORDERED: Beef Brisket Sandwich $8.50, with dill potato salad and ranch beans, corn muffin and Peanut Butter Pie, $6.00 TASTED: Solid BBQ. It's not in Oklahoma Joe's league but very solid. (I compare to K.C. probably unfairly because I haven't really had other Milwaukee BBQ.) The Beef Brisket Sandwich is 3 large strips of briskets on a buttered white bun, the dill potato salad is fantastic (subtle mustard with a visible fresh dill peppered throughout), the ranch beans were average (what, no bacon!?) and served as dipping sauce to the corn muffin. The "house" sauce that's on each table is very mild, appealing to most tastebuds. I like when BBQ joints have a few options as I like smokey and spicy sauces. SERVICE: PRO. Out waitress was great, water glasses filled, checked on us at the right times, quick with the check. VERDICT: My wife and I sat on the back patio with a cool late-April 70 degree breeze, eating good BBQ for lunch on a Saturday. The good life. HISTORIC BUILDING (per website): The building was built in 1855 by Frank Reusch as a stagecoach stop on the historic Watertown Plank Road and also housed a blacksmith and livery stable. Two years later, a mercantile was added and it became the first post office in Elm Grove. Known as the Elm Grove Hotel, rooms were rented upstairs and horses stabled on the basement level. the Elm Grove Hotel remained in the Reusch family, operating as Reusch's Tavern in the fifties, until it was sold in 1963 and became the Elm Grove Inn. The building is the second oldest restaurant in the State of Wisconsin, and the tradition continues.

Delicious BBQ in the hidden city of Elm Grove. I love driving through this little downtown as I only happen to do so when I am lost or by accident. There seems to be a few hidden gems here, and Silver Spur is definitely one of them. This establishment sits in a building built in the 1800's with a nicely done rustic, old west decor with a wonderfully homey feel. The staff greets you with a smile, and the service was fantastic. We were trying the place out for a potential venue for our rehearsal dinner. The owner was available and eager to speak with us about his location. They are extremely accommodating and willing to work with you on just about anything. They have a nice space that can be closed off for private parties. On to the meal itself. We started with a delicious homemade salsa, guacamole and chips. Literally everything they make is home made, fresh and very tasty. You can order a variety of meats on custom combination plates. The ribs melted off the bone and I love the bbq sauce on the side. The coleslaw and beans were great as well. The food was a perfect amount and filled me up without overdoing it. I can't wait to have our rehersal dinner here in the spring.

Atrocious service. We were one if 2 tables in the whole place for lunch today. I ordered a poboy sandwich and got a few big pin bones when I took a bite. I told the waitress and all she said was that she'd tell the chef. She never came back, and I ended up just eating the fries and leaving the sandwich. I picked off my moms plate so I could at least have a little something to eat. We finally for up to go to the front to ask for a bill since the waitress was nowhere to be found, and when she saw us walking out she got cranky with us. Won't be going back. Ever.

After going to college in the south and working extensively in Kansas City, I think I have a pretty good grip on what's 'good bbq.' The Silver Spur Texas Smokehouse will provide you with a good meal, but not necessarily the best bbq. If you are going to this restaurant solely to evaluate the bbq, you're going to disappointed. The meat isn't smokey, the sauce doesn't have that finger licking goodness to it, but I did enjoy the brisket, potato salad, and beans that I ordered. It was similar to what you would get at a back yard bbq, but no way a gourmet contender with some of the big smokehouses in major cities. (But then again, what are your expectations here? Its a small bbq restaurant in the outskirts of Milwaukee.) Have a seat, get you some sweet tea, and relax. A nice warm meal is on its way.

The cobb salad here was phenomenal. One of the best I've had. Big, with plenty of fix-ins. Easily a meal in itself. I also had a chicken sandwich. This was alright, nothing to write home about. A decent place.

  • Bobby W.

My wife and I visited friends in Milwaukee recently and they thought it would be fun to go to a Texas BBQ joint while we were there to see if it was "authentic". Unfortunately, it is not at all authentic. I ordered the brisket sandwich, since brisket is the real test of any Texas-style BBQ. The brisket would pass for really great pot roast, but it was not BBQ of any sort. There was no smokey flavor to the meat whatsoever. There is a BBQ pit in the back, but I get the sense that they cook most of their meat in the oven. I had high hopes for the place and tried to check my BBQ ego at the door. Silver Spur, however, simply doesn't live up to the name of "Texas Smokehouse BBQ".

I was delightfully surprised by the high quality of the food and the great service. We had a party of 21; some of us arrived 1/2 hour early, and our tables were already set up. When nearly everyone had arrived, we asked to have the tables rearranged so that we could all sit together, and they cheerfully accommodated us. At check time, we surprised them with a request to all have individual checks. Again, service with a smile. The wait time for our food was very reasonable, as were the prices. Our wait person was attentive, friendly, and efficient. I ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs with cole slaw and potato salad. Everything was excellent. The interior is cozy and fun, and for warmer months, there is a nice outdoor deck. It just could not have been a better dining experience!

  • Jeff M.

It's tough to find a quality BBQ joint, and I think the Silver Spur is close to something great. Unfortunately, they didn't go above and beyond with their meal. The menu showed a lot of great choices, so I felt the need to do a combination, trying the Juicy Q, Pulled Pork and Ribs. They don't put the BBQ sauce on the meat directly, that way you can enjoy the meat on it's own first. Unfortunately, what I was hoping to be the best part was the worst. The ribs were dry, I think it really needed to be served with the sauce on it already. I like my ribs tender, that was not the experience I had. The highlight of that meal was the pulled pork. I think I could go there for lunch and enjoy a wonderful pulled pork sandwich. The other weird thing was, I ordered a salad in addition to the meal, because it wasn't an option with the meal I chose. The waitress couldn't figure out when I wanted the salad, because it wasn't with the meal based on their menu. Trying to explain that the salad should come between the appetizers and the entree seemed like something they would of gone over in training. Heck, I've never worked in a restaurant, and I know this. Go for the pulled pork, but don't go out of your way.

    (3)
  • Brad K.

Not the best place I've had barbecue. The brisket was drowning in sauce and the pulled pork was dry. If you're looking for a sweet sauce with no heat you might like this one. All of us at the table needed to add Tabasco our already soaked meat

  • Brian H.

I'm really critical of any BBQ restaurant I go to because it's some of my favorite food! The food here was really tasty! I ordered a 3 meat combo plate with pulled pork, beef brisket & ribs. I prefer a mustard base bbq sauce for my pulled pork but this was a Texas BBQ restaurant so that kind of bummed me out but the meat was still good. My favorite was the beef brisket! I've never had a such a good brisket, it was not fatty & very moist. There is street parking & a lot in the back.

After living in Texas a few years it was hard for us to find a worthy BBQ restaurant when we returned to Wisconsin. This one has quickly become our local favorite. No matter what we try we enjoy our meal. The BBQ is delicious but not to worry-- if you don't like BBQ there is plenty more choices on the menu. As many times as we have been to this establishment we have never had a problem with service. Except the one time my vegetarian friend ended up with Chicken on her salad. (oops!) However, that was remedied quickly to her satisfaction. Besides dining in we also had a party catered by Silver Spur. I had absolutely no work to do but pick up the food and lay it out. More importantly, the leftovers were fabulous!! **Unfortunately, this restaurant burned down on April 30, 2008-- giving new meaning to 'smokey BBQ!' I truly hope they rebuild.**

  • Michelle T.

I recently went to the new (rebuilt) Silver Spur, and I was very disappointed. The service was terrible- we waited about half an hour just to get our order taken, which is pretty ridiculous for 5 o'clock on a Wednesday. I ordered a burger which easily could have been a frozen burger you buy pre-made at the grocery store. I will not be going back.

Met up with an old friend who lives close by for lunch and we both had their fish fry (9.50 for lunch) which I thought was excellent. First came out a warm half loaf of bread which is always appreciated as opposed to rye bread which I'm not fond of. Manhattan Clam Chowder was offered and I thought it was just okay. There were 2 nice sized pieces of battered cod that came with some delicious fries that had a very tasty coating on them, a small cup of coleslaw and some fabulous southwest tartar sauce that was so good I dipped my fries into it also. Service was friendly and fast. We were well taken care of. I told my friend that anytime she needed a fish fry partner I'll be more than happy to join her here.

I went here for a birthday celebration about 5 days ago. The BBQ was fall off the bone tender. I had ribs and white meat chicken. Very good flavor on both. BBQ sauce was good, but didn't need it much. The potato salad and cole slaw inedible. We were pleasantly seated by a warm fire and the waitress gave excellent service. I would go here again. BUT...we both started with water to drink and I felt sick after drinking it. It is well water that has a strong iron taste or something. It was awful, undrinkable. We could buy bottled water, why should we? The waitress said it was filtered, ewwwwwwwww. Neither of us could handle it and my friend has well water! I will give it another try, but I will try different sides and bring water. You get 2 sides or one side salad or pay and extra $1.99 for fries as I remember it. Crazy! I would like for this restaurant to stay in Elm Grove and succeed.

Just moved to Elm Grove about a year ago and decided to check this place out. It was just ok for me. The brisket was pretty good but I wasn't a huge fan. I grew up in the south so I've had some delish BBQ... this was decent. I was really disappointed when I gave this place a second try; I decided to try the cauldron of chili with cornbread. Now, I like chili. But chili with cornbread is one of my favorite things. So when these cornbread muffins came out COVERED in sugar as if they were supposed to be a dessert item, I was not pleased. Why are they listed next to the chili and not with the desserts? It was very strange. The chili was good but nothing to write home about... All-in-all, just ok for me.

Really good chili and pulled pork sandwich called the squeeler. The rest of the menu is okay but not great in my opinion. Overall a good restaurant that I will continue to go to

Prompt friendly service by an attractive waitress goes a long way. The cole slaw, potato salad, warm BBQ sauce and deserts were not enough to save the dried turkey, ribs and brisket. while it may be a comfortable, fun place to meet the gang, most of the cities Greek houses have better Barbecue. They got everything right except the meats.

Just checked this place out last night. They have a bar in the front and a pretty cozy dining area. I went with several people and we decided to order the BBQ Feed Bag - a nice sampler that has ribs, chicken, brisket, fries, coleslaw, potato salad, beans, and corn muffins - served on a garbage can lid. It says it is enough to feed 4-5 people (we had 5) and we still had a lot to take home. The bbq sauce was tasty and was warmed when it arrived to the table. The ribs were my favorite, fall off the bone and they had a nice spice rub on them. The brisket was also good, although just a touch overdone and slightly dry. The chicken was juicy and the fries were perfect. I'm not a big fan of beans, so those didn't really do anything for me. The corn muffins and coleslaw were okay - I've had better, but a nice accompaniment. Our waitress was very friendly and was cracking jokes with my table all night. She even packed us a large container of bbq sauce to take home with us. The prices are affordable and I like the laid back atmosphere. I would definitely come back.

From out west with real Texas BBQ and the national rib cook off and this is handsdown the best BBQ I've had in this state!

First, we're Texans, so this is a reality check. Second, I was craving meat, being on a no carb diet. Lovely setting on the deck. Nice servers. My wife had a 1/2 rack of ribs, and I had a combo plate of chicken and brisket. All three meats had a light smoke flavor, but were totally dry and overdone. I'm not sure how that could happen, unless the meats were not marinated or swabbed while smoking. The "brisket" tasted like pot roast and it was sliced in 1/2 inch slabs. interesting, but Texas brisket is very tender and never more than 1/4 inch thick. This took a whole lot of chewing! Despite the name, this is far from Texas BBQ. The sauce, sweet and tangy, however, was good. The smoker needs to spend a week in central Texas checking out some BBQ joints and finding out how they make their Q moist and flavorfull. Dry "falling-off-the-bone" meat, which some novices think is cool, is not really Texas BBQ. The meat should be tender, but have some resistance. Wisconsinites should not have to go to a chain like Famous Daves to get BBQ.

MOST TERRIBLE OVERPRICED FOOD EVER ~ I really don't consider myself fussy or difficult to please as I full-time RV accross the country, but I was shocked at the cost and small portions (not like I'ld want more) of such poor quality food. $81 (not including tip) for a party of 3 included 1 calamari horderve basket, a beverage each & 3 combination platters. Chopped brisket was like an ice cream scoop of dry over cooked salty BBQ brisket that had been microwaved. 3 slices of salty mushy canned turkey slices with very small cup (sides) of coleslaw (that had a funny after taste) and watery mushy & over cooked baked beans with little to no flavor. The service was generally good but the waitress never asked how our food was (or I would have told her). Two of us couldn't finish the meal because of it's inferior quality (just unappetizing). The beef brisket slices were good (I was told) and the sausage links looked good (can't speak for their taste). Also can't speak for the ribs either which is a feature on their menu. I usually don't submit reviews when I see many similar to mine but felt compelled this time. Definitely a one time visit for me.

Pretty good BBQ place - closer to 3.5 stars. Have been here a few times and the food has always been good. Ribs are good, but really love the turkey, chicken, brisket and other BBQ options. The Mexican items are pretty good too (enchiladas especially.) They have a really good house margarita (rocks). Tried the fish fry once too and it was pretty good. Parking in the rear of building. I like this location better than the old one (which was lost to fire a few years back.) Bar area is nice and seating is better. Overall - nice option on the west side, especially for BBQ.

I have been to many places in the greater Milwaukee area for ribs, including some of ones touted as THE places to go, but I continue to say that the Silver Spur has the best ribs in town. The service has been reliably solid every time we go. Sometimes the place gets a bit noisy in the main dining area, and it's been pretty packed every time we go. If you liked the quality of their food at the original location before it burned down, it's remained exactly the same at the new venue.

I had the combo platter with ribs and brisket. The ribs were good but not as smokey as I like. They were moist and fell of the bone when pulled them apart. The brisket was very dry and hard and was like eating left over cold pot roast. I had to pour the BBQ sauce on the brisket just to choke it down. How could the two meats be so far apart in quality ?. The ranch beans were good but watery like a soup. The dill potato salad was OK as far as potato salad goes. The BBQ sauce was a little different but good with a hint of hot. One container of sauce was not enough for the meal. Every one at work gave it three stars and said they would be back. I always give fair reviews and tell it like it is. I would have to try other menu items and give an update but as of now only three stars. If I only had the brisket I would have given one and a half stars. The ribs will get us back for lunch in the future.

We went to Silver Spur last night on the hopes of BBQ as they advertised. We are from Texas so we know what it should be and this was not even close. No smoke flavor, the brisket was tender but tasteless. The ribs were broiled and tasted like mush. The sad part is they were not busy and our server was no where to be found. We had to go to the bar to get more drinks and then our check. I would definitely stay away because this is no way close to BBQ!

We've just had our first-and last-visit to this restaurant. The good: the workers there were pretty friendly. The hostess made friends with our shy daughter, which is a plus. Our server, while not the most exceptional, was nice and attentive. The restaurant was less than half full (Wednesday night), so my daughter, after eating, was dancing around a bit. She nearly crashed into the other server, but he just smiled and truly did not mind. He walked by later while she was still dancing and even danced with her for a moment. The bad: Unfortunately, the food was fairly disappointing. An avid carnivore, my husband ordered a combo platter. He found all the meat to be extremely dry. He called it, "The driest barbecue east of the Pecos." He ate 25% of his plate and boxed up the rest. He was so annoyed with the food, that he threw his leftovers in the parking lot dumpster. My nachos left much to be desired. The taste was fine, but I'm pretty sure it had been sitting around a while...perhaps heated/re-heated one too many times. The cheese was either in rubbery clumps, or burnt crisps. The green onions were dry, which just spoke to the lack of freshness of the entire dish. The guacamole, while adequate in taste, seemed to have an ever-so-slightly brown hue. And the chicken was dry. I mean, cotton-ball dry. Oh, and since when does a kid's bowl of Kraft Mac-N-Cheese cost $5 and NOT include a drink? How is it a kid's "meal" when nothing else came with it? The ugly: The decor! Well, the decor was fine. It was a cowboy theme, in keeping with the theme/food of the restaurant. However, their choice of wall color was awful. The bottom half consisted of wood paneling, which was actually nice, But it was paired with a dark rose color above it. This color combo, paired with dark wood tables, chairs and floors, left an atmosphere that felt quite oppressive. So, no, we will not be returning to this restaurant. This does get two stars because of the service. But, we basically had (unimpressive) fast food at sit-down prices.

We are rating this one 3 stars, but it is more like half 1 star, half 5 star. Bartender shortpouring drinks...1 star....Host telling us 20 minutes then seating us in 10...5 stars....extremely efficient table service....5 stars....clearing our plates before we were finished without asking....1 star....delicious ribs.....5 stars....overcooked brisket....1 star....wonderful potato salad....5 star....beans a bit bland....1 star(ok, more like 3 stars on the beans. You get the idea. Good and bad, hot and cold. Lots of potential, but not quite there yet.

We had a fantastic experience on a busy Friday night, no less! We were seated immediately and our food didn't take long. Cute atmosphere- open but still feels intimate (in that you're not overhearing conversations at other tables). The chicken, pulled pork, and ribs were fantastic, the brisket was mediocre. TIP: IF YOU GET A SANDWICH YOU MAY WANT TO TURN IT UPSIDE DOWN TO EAT IT - THE BOTTOM BUN EVENTUALLY GETS SOGGY WITH DELICIOUS BBQ JUICES!! The BBQ sauce comes on the side and is served warm - a nice touch. I will need to go back to try the deserts, I was to full from dinner but they all sound delicious! We had excellent service and a great experience all-around. I recommend it and we will be back!
